Born in the USA....

Fresh off my voting high... I thought I would blog... yep- full disclosure here- I get a high off voting- there is something so American and so empowering about it.... I walk out of my little vestibule with my red sticker on my now stuck out chest and my head a little higher than when I entered. Its so interesting to me... I don't know exactly where the feeling stems from because to be honest- I have little to no interest in politics- I must of had a heck of a civics teacher in Jr. High. I know enough about the candidates (for the most part) to make an informed decision but I am not a party voter nor do I spend hours watching the debates. My grandma would kill me if she read this and found out that I did not vote for every republican on the ballot no matter what. :) Anyhow- I hope you all got out and did your American duty today- I am going to go enjoy my voting high and watch the results come in with my glass of Cabernet from Napa.... thats right-wine from right here in the good ole USA! :) God Bless America....

Don't stop believing....

Well---- what a weekend as I am sure most of you can relate to.... lots of fun but now we are coming down off the sugar high and "Houston- we have a problem"... back to the real world. Our weekend was consumed with Perkins and Biehn family fun..... if you do not already know- Alisha Perkins & Anna Biehn are the co-founders of the little product called I.D. ink, which coincidentally is also the blog that you are currently perusing.... anyways... it began Friday night with the traditional Halloween Party at the Biehns house... Anna and I went as Lady Gaga.... spent the night drinking kool-aid, reading books, practicing our bible verses for Sunday school, and of course singing some carols.... :) I would say that may or may not be accurate but I will tell you that Anna can really belt out "Don't Stop Believing" and  Jesus was at the party so.... its partially accurate....
Saturday day afternoon we both woke up and spent the day being model citizens and amazingly hands on mothers..... :) again may or may not be accurate :)
Sunday though... we did do the parental thing and got the kiddos all dressed up and took them trick or treating.... well- Anna & I actually stayed back in the house and handed out the candy and the dads took the kids but we were the ones who go them ready to go....so we had a hand in it!
All in all- we were the type of parents this weekend that all other parents should aspire to be (may or may not be accurate) but hey- we are doing the best we can....

Oh and p.s. my Hubby shot his first deer this weekend and is pretty excited so I thought I would allow him some air time on the blog.
Other big news**** I.D. ink had its first T.V. spot this weekend on Game On! with Rod Simons... check it out....

Have a HAPPY halloween....

Well after about 6 costume changes per kids we have narrowed it down at our house... Addie is going to be a hot dog, which if you know Addie is so off character- she is girly and princess to the core, but thanks to an episode of "Sid the Science Kid" where there is dancing & singing food she has decided to be a hot dog. :) Lyla on the other hand started off as the hot dog and since morphed into a horse, a pumpkin, and now has landed on a butterfly.... we will see what she actually debuts on Sunday, or if she evens puts on a costume at all. :) Though our costumes may be in flux, the one thing I know is that my kids, along with Anna's kids- who will be trick or treating along with us- will be sporting I.D. ink.... because as Anna and I drink our wine and hand out candy- we can know that our kids are safe.... even with their fathers who have jimmy-rigged a cooler onto the back of the wagon that they are pulling... :) Happy Halloween!

Neti Pot... how I love thee...

To be honest- I always kind of thought being sick was nice... sure- you feel like crap but people wait on you, you get to sleep all the time, and when you were younger you got to miss school.... all good things right?? Well- being sick and being a mom is not glamorous at all.... you think you can lay in bed all day and rest but that never happens.... if you are in bed you are either interrupted by someone needing something every 30 minutes or you are only able to get a little sleep because "Word World" is playing on the TV while your almost 4 year old jumps on the bed!! It truly is amazing that we even get healthy when all our bodies need are rest, and yet it gets little to none because for the most part you do not have a choice. So in the mean time while I am fighting this sinus infection, headache, and extreme fatigue- the one thing that I can count on is the Neti- Pot.... a little bit of relief in a relief-free mom's world. And if you do not know what a netti- pot is- get on google right now because you need to!
